We’re seeing out 2022 and seeing in the New Year in style, with fast and furious action on the track. It’s the Central Motor Speedway Christmas and New Year Double-Header.
Stock Cars will have their day in the sun, as the Stockcar and Mini Stock Tri-Series promises the ultimate in stockcar racing, with club pride at stake!
It’s the Cromwell round of the Stock car tri-series on 30th December, with Dunedin, Invercargill and Cromwell stockcar and ministock drivers all competing for points.
Cromwell club stockcar driver Casey McEwan says it’s an exciting sport and great to see young drivers competing.
“It’s now the biggest grade in New Zealand. We are a great team here in Cromwell, we travel together, camp together, help each other out and have a lot of fun.”
Stockcar racing has plenty of contact, it’s fast and exciting. Fans are in for a treat to see the year out.
Then, on New Year’s Day 2023, the Southern Sprintcar Series returns to Cromwell. If you thought fighting for a supermarket carpark at Christmas time was unruly, wait till you see how interesting things get when driving tensions reach their Southern Sprintcar Series peak on Cromwell’s clay track.
US sprintcar sensation Joel Myers Jr will race both nights. Only in New Zealand a matter of weeks, the 16 year old has already shown innate talent and exceptional skill, and the ability to turn any race into a show-stopping event.
Central Motor Speedway club president Andy Erskine says the young 16 year old star proves you can belong on the world stage at any age.
“Joel sends the message that we all can achieve, no matter who we are, if we work for it and follow our sporting dreams.”
Both the tri-series and the Southern Sprintcar Series are supported by all grades racing on the night, with good entry numbers for what will be a sensational two nights of racing.
